PROJECT GOAL

Designing, manufacturing and testing of 48 items of mechanical-and-support equipment with weight over 60 tons for the building of Antares rocket vehicle assembly at the launch-site Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS), Wallops island, Virginia, USA.


DESCRIPTION:

 

Mechanical ground supporting equipment intended for the "Antares" rocket vehicle has been designed, manufactured and tested at PJSC "Dneprotyazhmash". The first stage of "Antares" has been designed by the "Yuzhnoye" design bureau on the basis of the "Zenith" rocket. The "Antares" rocker is intended to be used to launch cargo spacecrafts to the International Space Station.

FINAL RESULTS:

 

The "Antares" rocket vehicle has successfully placed into an orbit the full-scale mock-up of "Cugnus" cargo spacecraft (Swan). In addition three small NASA satellites and one commercial satellite have been placed into an orbit. The date of launch was April 22 at 22:00, GMT, from Wallops island, Virginia, USA.
